EVALUATION OF MEXICAN NATIVE AND HYBRID MAIZE (ZEA MAYS) SILAGES FOR SUSTAINABLE MILK PRODUCTION

چکیده

Background. Maize cultivation and dairy cattle represent two of the main economic activities in Mexico. Objective. Determine forage yield (ton / ha) quality maize silage produced Mexico estimate potential milk production. Methodology. For this purpose, 13 studies carried out Mexico, were analyzed according to study area (north vs. center Mexico) variety (native hybrid). inclusion final database, should have been including agronomic chemical variables such as: dry matter (DMY) ha), plant density (number plants content (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), ash or organic (OM), digestibility (DMD), (NDFD), starch fat content. The data using a completely randomized statistical design. Results. DMY (dry yield) ha, production DM higher (P <0.0001) for central region with respect northern region. Regarding (kg milk/ native silages more <0.05) than hybrids. A positive correlation was observed NEL (net energy lactation) (MJ kg DM) ton DM. Implications. thus has provide greater ha Milk/ per hybrid maize, due NDF that causes NEl. Conclusions. use is viable alternative as feed cows, hectare compared maize.

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

Epistasis in Maize (zea Mays

ISHER (1918) provided a framework for the characterization of genotypic variance whereby he partitioned it into three components: ( 1 ) a portion associated with the average effects of genes, (2) a portion associated with dominance effects (allelic interactions) of genes, and (3) a portion associated with epistatic effects (nonallelic interactions) of genes. A logical method for the further sub...

Cloning and expression analysis of hemoglobin genes from maize (Zea mays ssp. mays) and teosinte (Zea mays ssp. parviglumis).

With the exception of barley and rice, little is known about the existence of hemoglobins (Hbs) in cereals. This work reports the cloning and analysis of hb genes from maize (Zea mays ssp. mays) and teosinte (Zea mays ssp. parviglumis). Coding sequences of maize and teosinte hb genes (hbm and hbt, respectively) are highly similar to each other and are interrupted by three introns located at ide...

Association Mapping for Enhancing Maize (Zea mays L.) Genetic Improvement

Association mapping through linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis is a powerful tool for the dissection of complex agronomic traits and for the identifi cation of alleles that can contribute to the enhancement of a target trait. With the developments of high throughput genotyping techniques and advanced statistical approaches as well as the assembling and characterization of multiple association...

A strategy for assembling the maize (Zea mays L.) genome

UNLABELLED Because the bulk of the maize (Zea mays L.) genome consists of repetitive sequences, sequencing efforts are being targeted to its 'gene-rich' fraction. Traditional assembly programs are inadequate for this approach because they are optimized for a uniform sampling of the genome and inherently lack the ability to differentiate highly similar paralogs. RESULTS We report the developme...
